Bellator 273: Bader vs Moldavsky Live Stream 2022 Fight

Bellator announced on Monday that Bader will defend his heavyweight title against the interim champ, Valentin Moldavsky in the main event of Bellator 273 on January 29. The event will take place at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona and air live on Showtime.

Ryan Bader (28-7) has not fought at heavyweight since September of 2019 when he fought Cheick Kongo to a No Contest. Since then, he suffered a knockout loss to Vadim Nemkov to lose his light heavyweight title. “Darth” was then in the light heavyweight grand Prix where he beat Lyoto Machida in the opening round before suffering a 51-second TKO loss to Corey Anderson in the semifinals.

At heavyweight in Bellator, Bader is 3-0 with one No Contest and won the vacant title after winning the Grand Prix. In the opening round, he knocked out King Mo in 15 seconds before winning a decision over Matt Mitrione. In the finals, he knocked out Fedor Emelianenko in 35 seconds to win the belt.

Valentin Moldavsky (11-1) is undefeated in Bellator and is the pupil of Emelianenko. In his last fight, he earned a clear-cut decision over Tim Johnson to win the interim heavyweight title. He’s 6-0 in Bellator with notable wins over Roy Nelson, Javy Ayala, and Linton Vassell. Before signing with Bellator, he competed in RIZIN and beat Karl Albrektsson among others.

Who is Ryan Bader?

Ryan DuWayne Bader is an accomplished American mixed martial artist (MMA) and the present Bellator Light Heavyweight Champion. A former fighter for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) in the Light Heavyweight division, he is presently signed 

with Bellator MMA. After a successful stint in amateur wrestling that included two state championships and a fourth rank in wrestling nationwide while in high school, and three Pac-10 Conference Championships during college, he entered the mixed martial arts scene. 

His accomplishments with UFC include winning The Ultimate Fighter 8 Light Heavyweight Tournament in 2008 and earning the ‘Submission of the Night’ and ‘Performance of the Night’ bonus awards in 2013 and 2016 respectively. His all-inclusive record with UFC in the Light Heavyweight division is 15-5. 

He signed with Bellator MMA in 2017 and the same year in June he beat Phil Davis via split decision to bag the Bellator Light Heavyweight Championship. So far, his MMA record shows 23 wins out of 28 of which 11 were won by decision, 8 by knockout, and 4 by submission. Sherdog, an American website dedicated to MMA ranks him #3 in Light Heavyweight in the world.

Valentin Moldavsky is a Ukrainian (until 2014) and Russian (since 2014) combat sambo and mixed martial arts practitioner. He is currently signed to Bellator MMA where he is the current interim Bellator Heavyweight World Champion. He is also a two-time world and one-time European Sambo Champion in the +100 kg division. As of October 5, 2021, he is #10 in the Bellator men’s pound-for-pound rankings.

Bellator 273: Bader vs Moldavsky Main Card Betting Preview

On Saturday, January 29th, Bellator will kick off the new year with their first event – Bellator 273: Bader vs. Moldavsky. This event, which will be live from the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona, has a headline bout for the Bellator heavyweight championship.

The champ Ryan Bader returns to heavyweight action to take on the interim champion Valentin Moldavsky in the main event. The co-featured bout is lightweight great Benson Henderson taking on the fast-rising Islam Mamedov.
