Written and directed by the Wachowskis, The Matrix trilogy follows a computer hacker named Thomas Anderson (Keanu Reeves), who discovers, with the help of a team of rebels led by Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne), that the world he’s been living in is a lie. Artificial intelligence has taken over society and uses human beings as batteries to power their systems. Thomas Anderson, labeled “The One,” is set to take up the mantle against the machines.

The Matrix Resurrections premiered in US theaters and on HBO Max on 22nd December 2021. It’s the last of the Warner Bros. “hybrid” releases. Future releases will land on HBO Max 45 days after their theatrical release.

The Matrix Reloaded and The Animatrix are also available for purchase from Google Play. The Vudu deal is $19.99 instead of $24.99, so it’s a little cheaper to buy all the movies together. The Matrix Revolutions is not available on Google Play.
