Some Twitch users have cool names. Others choose crazy usernames with symbols, numbers, and things that don’t make sense.

How much thought should go into your Twitch name?

How Much Your Twitch Name Matters

Are you trying to build a brand for yourself as a streamer? If so, then you need to pick a name that will help you do this.

But if you are just there to express yourself and have some fun, then you can pick any crazy Twitch name you want.

Your follower count will not matter much anyway.

The secret to a good Twitch name is to meet three simple requirements” Simplicity, Brand Identity, and Memorable.

I chose a short and simple Twitch name that matched my brand. Let me tell you more.

Your Twitch name needs to be something that people will notice and remember.

If you think about all the most popular streamers, you will realize that they have short and catchy names.

You want your name to be something people will recall. Easy to pronounce – bonus points if people will be more likely to type it out correctly while searching for you.

You do not want to lose followers just because they couldn’t type your name correctly. You do not want some cryptic combination of letters and numbers.

Adding numbers to a word will not help. Do not do anything that makes it harder for people to remember your username correctly.

It should be easy for your follower from other social media platforms to find you on Twitch. That means the simpler, the better. The shorter, the better. The catchier, the better.

What do you do when someone else has taken that perfect name? If you still feel you have to use that name for whatever reason, don’t add a sign or symbol at the end. A number will do much better.

I can’t overstate how important simplicity is. A ‘three’ in place of an ‘E,’ or an ‘O’ in place of a ‘zero’ makes your name complex. It is counterproductive. It makes it that much harder for people to find you.

People should not come away puzzled or frustrated from not finding you successfully.

But what if you chose a name and you now realize you do not like it? Or maybe you are rebranding. You may want to go with a different name for the new brand.

Twitch has a solution for this. Streamers on Twitch can now execute a change name for free. The only limitation is that you can change names once every 60 days.

Here is how to Change Your Twitch name, step-by-step:

Do you know how to change twitch username? Fortunately, Twitch allows you to get a new username once every 60 days.

Let me explain how to do that down below.

Change your Name on Twitch in 4 Simple Steps

  1. Log into your account and head to the Settings tab
  2. Go to the Profile Settings and look under the Username section
  3. Look for the edit button (it looks like a pencil) and click on it to make the change to your name. If you do not see the pencil icon, you will need to wait longer to change your name.
  4. Update your name.

You are now home and dry.

Twitch allows streamers to get a new name only once in two months. You cannot change it after a recent name change. You will have to let the 60 days lapse before attempting another name change.
