The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is returning to the streets of New York City for its 95th annual stroll through Manhattan in 2021. Will Coss, an executive producer of Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, revealed in September 2021 that the annual holiday spectacle will be “closer to its original form” this year after being reimagined as a television-only event in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We are thrilled to welcome back in its full form the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, a world-renowned celebration that ushers in the magic of being in New York City during the holiday season,” New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said in a press release. “We applaud Macy’s work to creatively continue this beloved tradition last year and look forward to welcoming back Parade watchers to experience it safely, live, and in-person this November.”

Where will the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade be this year?

The 95th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will once again take place in New York City on November 25. Traditionally the parade follows a 2.5-mile route through Manhattan.

This year, the parade is returning to its roots. The festivities begin at West 77th Street & Canal Park West on the west side of Central Park at 9 AM ET. The parade will weave its way down Central Park, into the Theater District and end at Macy’s Herald Square.

How can I watch the 95th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade?

The 95th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will air nationwide on NBC. You can catch the world’s largest parade from 9 AM to Noon in all time zones on Thursday, November 25. I don’t know about you, but it sounds like the ideal way to get your holiday feast prepping started!

What floats and balloons should we expect to see?

This year’s parade is going to feature classic balloon appearances like Santa Claus, the Macy’s star, and of course, Charlie Brown’s four-legged friend, Snoopy. Don’t forget to be on the lookout for newer additions like:

  • Group, from the beloved Star Wars series The Mandalorian
  • Ada Twist, from the Netflix series Ada Twist, Scientist
  • Tiptoe, a reindeer that’s the first-ever balloon puppet to march down the route
  • Toni, the Bandleader Bear

Thanks to social distancing and safety practices that will be implemented at this year’s parade, fans can also expect the return of magical performances including singers, dancers, and the renowned Radio City Rockettes.

Which marching bands will be participating in the 2021 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade?

Keeping with one of the event’s most cherished traditions, marching bands from around the country will be taking to the streets of NYC to perform in this year’s parade, including:

  • The Anne Richards Marching Stars from Austin, TX—The group, which is the only all-female competitive marching band in the country, is set to perform “Girls Just Want of Have Fun.”
  • The Centerville High School Jazz Band from Centerville, OH—The band last performed in the parade in 1982 and will be returning this year with a performance of “The Twelve Days of Christmas.”
  • The Sound of Brownsburg Marching Band from Brownsburg, IN—The Indiana high school band, made up of 205 members, will be serenading parade viewers with “Mirko” from the Cirque du Soleil show Alegria.
  • The Lincoln-Way High School Marching Band from Frankfort, IL—The students will be performing “Metamorphosis” set to the music Aurora Awakes by John Mackey.
  • The Hampton University Marching Force from Hampton, VA—The university band, which participated in President Obama’s Inauguration Parade in 2009, will be playing a medley of Kool & The Gang’s “Celebration” and Sister Sledge’s “We Are Family.”
  • The Union High School Renegade Regiment from Tulsa, OK—The Oklahoma high school made their debut in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in 2013 and will be back this year with a performance of Oklahoma.
  • The University of Alabama’s Million Dollar Band from Tuscaloosa, AL—The Crimson Tide tradition, made up of 400 members, will be spreading holiday cheer performing “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” on Thanksgiving.
  • The Trabuco Hills High School Thundering Mustangs Marching Unit from Mission Viejo, CA—The California high school band will be making their first appearance at the 95th parade with a performance of “Pure Imagination.”
  • The NYPD Marching Band—Some of New York’s finest active police officers will be marching Thanksgiving morning under the direction of Amy Pape
  • The Macy’s Great American Marching Band—The band is composed of the nation’s greatest high school musicians and will include alumni this year in honor of 15 years in the parade.
